What a flick, folks. Recency bias is a small factor here but this might tie with Images as my favorite Altman so far. Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a better cast, or maybe just never seen a cast utilized so well, and my god does the Alt Man know how to hold interest, didn't feel the length at all and I'm gonna be thinking about these characters the rest of my life.

Full Metal Jacket 1987
Just because I watched it again for the first time since college, I want to reiterate how good the 2nd half of the movie is. Everybody likes to say the only thing that comes out of the Vietnam half is the prostitute's racist catchphrase, but man, that Joker fella gets one he'll of an arc. I felt myself more engaged by the second half, and the last 10 minutes were immensely powerful. War really just forces good people to do bad things, and lets bad people do whatever they want. I doubt Adam Baldwin would agree!
