Nosferatu 2024
I was so thrilled about this...
Technically, I guess it's amazing, with a beautiful score and stunning visuals despite their literal darkness, but that's as far as it goes.
With over half an hour more than the original movie, one would think Nosferatu (2024) would use this time to enhance the plot in any way. Instead, it opts for cheap jump scares and drawn-out scenes that throw off the pacing.
This ends up feeling like it has no soul - wallowing in its own atmosphere and offering nothing new to this tale, merely whispering:
"Isn't this a cool shot?"sigh It is, isn't it?

The Brutalist 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I think it's fitting that the abuse is such a brutal act that it risks making the film feel emotionally flat.
What prevents this imo is that there's nuance and a concrete foundation. Rather than reducing the act to a mere allegory that dominates the narrative it becomes part of the harshness of it all - something that, in hindsight, feels like we watching should have known better.
That's what makes the final speech from the niece even more heartbreakingly simplistic and another instance where agency is taken awayTranslated from by
