An improvement on the first on every single front. Better craft, unparalleled scale, Timmy’s best performance as well as Austin Butler’s, and a perfect pace. I’m giving it the extra 1/2 star because I could run it back right now and watch it again. It kills me that I can’t see this in the theater again, it is meant for the big screen. Will be seated day one in the Dolby room for Messiah.

Dune 2021
Composed and blocked beautifully, but still suffers from a slow pace and over-exposition, preventing me from getting emotionally connected. It’s strongest as a set up for the fantastic second part. Also, it’s a little too self serious and doesn’t have much humor when looking at part 2.
