Disappointed by Ari Aster’s work, surprising as I am a big fan of his previous films. As the viewer I am left feeling lost, but somewhat understand that Beau is held under control from his mother’s corporate reign. I find it interesting that she denies him his lifeline as she has coddled him his entire life leaving him completely unable to make decisions as she is the one who dictates the decisions for him. The Lobster 2015
Yeah main character was a weirdo, don’t know how he has compassion in some moments and in other moments nothing. Goes to show that people cannot force love to happen, which is the problem here. Big misanthropic criticism of the human nature in the face of sociality where roles are predefined, a world in this is a world of nothing. I enjoy the taboo premise of the movie within relationship to desire, but dislike the method of punishment that is portrayed in this movie, which I believe artificially inflate the stakes at the cost of the commentary

The character development through experiences and events in the movie as well as symbolic referendums to the flaws of the character being developed or leading to their demise makes this movie a masterpiece, if you watched parasite and enjoyed highly recommend this
