Dang this is a dark one. I feel like a lot of Bong Joon Ho’s movies hit dark subject matters and tackle the state and trend of our society in brilliant ways, but none of them make the audience feel as uncomfortable as Mother. It’s amazing how we still get great comedic moments (the lawyer is an all timer, every scene he has is hilarious) interspersed in with such a tragic story. A great performance from Kim Hye-Ja is a highlight as well.

I think Sean Baker is just incredibly good at writing scenes of people bickering. That’s when this film is at its best (pretty much any scene with Mickey O’Hagen as Dinah). I thought the leads were good and the experimental shooting style was interesting

We get Denzel in full coolest dude of all time mode as the polite, motivational speaker version of the classic one man army trope. Loved the choreography and the variety of the fight scenes. The final fight had some insane kills, we rarely see hardware store burr holes nowadays. We also get possibly the greatest *hero walks away from an explosion* shot of the 21st century!
