An awesome farcical romp for the front 2/3rds with a boring sci-fi climax. They drop everything interesting off at about the halfway point for humans vs aliens. Clones and fungible humans as a not-so-subtle allegory for capital’s absurd power over labor in the 21st century coming together to cathartically beat the shit out of a not-so-subtle trump stand-in? Nope, give the hive mind aliens their baby.
The back end of this film just screams executive meddling to me. Was disappointed…

It is technically rough around the edges and its ‘indie’ cred shows, often to its detriment. That said, it is a gorgeous film that is refreshing in how much it trusts the viewer with what it’s ‘about’.
I found myself asking a lot of questions about its world that I ultimately have to make peace with never knowing the answers to. And that’s okay! It never impeded my understanding of the heart of the film.
