Police Story 1985
The action scenes are thrilling and I quite enjoyed the choreography of the scenes which is impressive on its own, but also somehow manages to be both fairly visceral and yet not visceral at all at the same time.
The plot though is a mess and no amount of Maggie Cheung saves it, especially with the fair bit of misogyny in the script.

I think this is a fine movie, but it lacks something. The narrative is compelling, but I am not sure what the film is about - I guess about Eunice Paiva, but even then there is too many other things going on for it to be focused on her. It is about the family, but we dont see enough of the kids individually.
It is touching, and in these times many of us would be well placed in seeing more…

This was barely a movie. Structurally I mean. It felt like a bunch of documentary vinjettes patched together to fill the unjustifiable runtime.
It looked bad. I do not for the love of God understand why Scott made this look so drab. I am not sure that there was a single shot that felt exciting in this film.

Gripping. Visceral. Depp and Holt are excellent in this. It is scary and in fact quite horrifying. The atmosphere just grips you.
