I never managed to get with the style of this movie. The jump cuts, tiresome narration, and addressing the camera prevented me from getting emotionally invested in the characters. While Amy Adams’s makeup is excellent and makes her look like a genuinely drained mom, the writing is abysmal. When the movie comes to a complete standstill, and the main character looks straight into the lens and explicitly states her feelings and the film's themes, that’s terrible writing.
