I never managed to get with the style of this movie. The jump cuts, tiresome narration, and addressing the camera prevented me from getting emotionally invested in the characters. While Amy Adams’s makeup is excellent and makes her look like a genuinely drained mom, the writing is abysmal. When the movie comes to a complete standstill, and the main character looks straight into the lens and explicitly states her feelings and the film's themes, that’s terrible writing.

    The film doesn’t…

The highlight remains the Henson puppetry. The aesthetics and design of everything is so good. However, there is no story, it's just going from scene to scene where we get to so some cool puppets. Which is nice, but not exactly enthralling.

On the verge of heresy I would say that the songs are a bit tiresome. I feel like the pacing and momentum of the film would be improved if they were either cut entirely or cut short.

    Didymus MVP.

    This is cinema.

Using visuals and sound to not just tell a story, but to truly communicate something. It would be folly to look at this just as a narrative, this movie is saying something true and emotional. Something that cannot be put in words. Cinema. It’s beautiful, melancholic, and hopeful.

    Amazing stuff.

I really was into the premise of this when I heard about it.

It doesn’t stick to any of the modes of presentation it tries to use. It’s so inconsistent and doesn’t make any sense, it’s not a documentary, it’s not found footage.

It’s so afraid we might not get it we get literal lore dumps.

It used AI for the most stupid parts possible and for no good reason.

There was a germ of a good idea but every single decision made in the process of executing on it was a bad one.
