Usually strong visuals aren't enough to carry a movie - for me, it's usually an added extra, a part of the language but not the whole dialect.
But holy penis cream, I could watch cardinals walking about the Vatican all day long.
Not to say the visuals were the only thing that gripped me; the story was quietly tense, suffocating at certain parts; the music was on point; all the actors did their job perfectly - my favourite being John Lithgow - and the COSTUMES.
