Saltburn 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Saltburn doesn’t know what it is - worse than that, it doesn’t care what it is. It’s funny, sure. But that’s part of the problem, because only the rich people are. Oliver is revealed as the only character without even an ounce of earned audience sympathy. Which would be fine if he weren’t actually (gasp!) a member of the upper middle class. Keoghan plays it so straight he stamps out any spark of what might have been interiority.
As it stands, this movie offer no insight, no commentary, hell it doesn’t even ask interesting questions. Provocation without purpose, satire without teeth.
