I've spent several months eagerly anticipating this. Harmony Korine set out to make the movie of the future: a bold statement piece that rejected film and sought to bridge the artform with something new and electric. Bullshitting and drawing attention by disavowing film in favor of Call of Duty and TikTok aside, I do think that there's something to the idea of film reaching a natural conclusion here. This movie is an amazing mess. If I wasn't invested in this franchise it would be one of the worst things I've ever seen, easily. The pink blood, the complete lack of logic and thought behind it, the dumbass retcons, it's the definition of everything Saw is. This is perfect really, a distillation of everything post-2004.
