I think this film has easily become a new comfort movie for me. Glad I bought this Criterion Collection copy today, with no prior knowledge. A grounded slice-of-life film with a bit of realism in its thrills and drama, I think that is the best way I can describe this film. I appreciate creativity in camerawork and cinematography and this is exactly that. For me, the plot being simple aids my immersion into this film, as I slowly believe most…
I am going to rewatch this one. It's been a long day, and I was wearing thin around the one-hour mark. I liked the film but still don't understand why people go crazy for Toni Collette. Mark Ruffalo is OK with the imitation he goes for. I would give this a solid 7/10. Robert Pattinson's work is quite entertaining, by the way. Bong's direction elevates what, to me, was almost annoying material at times. I do, however, like what the film has to say about the singularity that comes with the human experience and the complexity offered by individuals.

I was somewhat disappointed by how my theater treated the film as a straight comedy. Some of them even went as far as to call the movie goofy. Of course, the film bends the bounds of reality in horror and has some genuine appeal in the comedic sense, but I still wouldn't classify it as a comedy. What a wonderful Christmas Gift that one of the most anticipated films of 2024 (and my recent memory) is now out! Robert Eggers fans, we won! Robert Eggers continues to stamp his name into the Horror Cannon with his retelling/interpretation of the novel by Bram Stoker, Dracula (1897), and reimagining the 1922 German Silent Film Nosferatu (1922). Looking back on Robert Eggers's filmography, I find Nosferatu (2024) his most romantic film. There's such passion behind the craft and direction that…

I rebuke thee...
All I can say on initial viewing of Longlegs is that this film is pretty compelling from the audio/visual medium— however, the lackluster and almost overwhelmingly overwritten screenplay in how it explores the supernatural held me back. I'm not sure I liked the "supernatural" elements and was more than happy with the detective-focused psychological thriller the film starts as. Mostly because I'm very tired of the whole "supernatural satanic cult" as an explanation for the payoff; that element feels very uninspired— I'll give this an 8/10, and I anticipate rewatching it later.
