The Major and the Minor 1942
In ANY other hands besides Billy Wilder and Ginger Rogers this wouldn't work. I'm still not sure it does. But my GOD if this isn't funny. Rogers was a surprise, as I'd never seen her in a comedy, but her timing if impeccable.

I absolutely adore this. The meta humor, the specific references, the pitch-perfect portrayals of both pretentious director and clueless film critic, it sets things up perfectly so that when things get truly bizarre, there's a quality backbone to build upon. Really the best thing I've seen from Fantastic Fest thing year.

Christmas Waltz 2020
Actually having TWO leads that can act makes all the difference in the world, and there are moments this feels like an actual movie, not something spit into a Christmas-formula machine. It's quite good for a HMCM (though by actual movie standards, maybe not so much). Now, to see the other seventy HMCM's that Chabert has made this year.
