Ami characterizes freedom in its purest form which really captivated me. The alternating settings of urban Taiwan and rural Japan was insanely beautiful. only critique is that they didn’t build up the connection between Ami and Jimmy as much as I wanted them to, so I just felt a bit…apathetic? at the ending. There’s a nostalgia of being young and having your whole life in front of you waiting to be experienced (oh wait that’s supposed to be me rn LOL). definitely worth a rewatch in a few years.

first things first Steven Yeun is my GOAT. the cinematography was absolutely stunning. i loved how intimate and family centered this film was. it portrays the immigrant or asian american experience specifically in such a unique way. this movie really made me reflect on the balance between chasing your dream and cherishing what u already have.
