Lost Highway 1997
Before the extremely discriminatory subjectification of extreme criminals, known as 'psychopaths' now, popularised by Fincher and Netflix, was Lynch and his superior investigations into a killer's psyche. It was forgotten, and we have never recovered from the absolutely naive and banal view of psychopaths as simply those individuals that lack any emotions of sympathy, as a part of their essence. They're reduced to an anomaly, which justifies the entire penal system we have (ala Foucault).
