  In Chickasaw culture, we believe in ittabánna’li, which essentially translates to “punish crimes an eye for an eye”. If someone has wronged you, then you have the right to restore the balance. There is no “turning the other cheek” in our culture. Based on this, my take might be a little different from most.

  I, too, wish I could go absolutely nuts on some colonizers then disappear into the lake, never to be seen again.
