  I understand that this is an adaption of the semi-autobiographical story Jonathan Larson wrote about himself but it’s so self-absorbed and egotistical I’m not surprised Lin Manuel Miranda wanted to direct it. 
  Plenty of people articulated it better than me but the comedy is stiff, the narrative is slow and not very compelling, the editing is confusing, the lighting is off a lot of the time, the cameos are cringy, the people and topics that matter most in this film…

  I’m not giving it this rating to be contrarian. it had all the ingredients, but was somehow sauceless. the opening scene had me, there were stunning shots, moments of incredible acting and a strong script that underlay it all but … I didn’t /feel/ - charisma, agony, desperation, the brutal battle that I could see playing out. I didn’t feel it.
