I feel compelled to write about this one.

Refreshing, hilarious and insightful. It both warms and aches the heart. It shows how the importance of family is universally human. It offers a perpective of the Asian-American, and specifically Chinese-American, experience that needs to be seen more often, not just because we need to see more diversity on screen but because it makes for more new and unique storytelling in an age of tiresome remakes.

Keanu Reeves finds his zen through his underlying bromance with criminal surfer dude Patrick Swayze and his bouncy golden locks of hair.

Gnarly shots of waves and surfing mixed with engaging action make it a real "dude" flick, even though it's directed by a woman. But I guess that's the genius of it.

It has many moments of hilarity, even if some are not intended to be humorous. The dramatically forced delivery of Reeve's lines is something to behold.
