The Gift 2000
Annie frustrated me a little. Why would you go to a secluded lake on a stormy night with a man, without a firearm or anything?
Frustrations aside, the message is a perfect reminder to always believe victims, men and women alike. The allyship in supporting abuse victims was done very well in a Southern Gothic atmosphere. One of my favourite classics.

The Devil All the Time 2020
This film makes you witness desperation and how it leads people to a path of spiritual psychosis where logic and empathy are lost. It was so strange seeing Robert Pattinson portray a villain for once, I hated his character so much. And once you see Mia Wasikowska in a Southern Gothic, you know it's about to be good.

The story felt disorganized and lacking focus. The narrative serves as a metaphor for generational mental illness and the hypocrisy of motivational speakers not practicing what they preach.
