The editing in this movie is some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a blockbuster. But boy did I have fun!

Genuinely insane how good the VFX and art direction are given the *relatively* low budget.
This is a freezing cold take, but nearly 1/6th the budget of Rise of Skywalker and The Creator looks and feels a million times better.
The world building feels sort of derivative of the Butlerian Jihad (or Asimov I guess), but this is no Rebel Moon.
I wish there was a little more room to breathe in the edit, but The Creator is still a triumph in my eyes.

I have to thank Jay of the Dead for giving me nightmares for the coming years.
What happened to John Edward Jones is beyond a claustrophobe’s worst nightmare.
I won't give the movie too much credit. The true story itself does a lot of the heavy lifting. Also I guess the Hallmark-style flashbacks were a necessary evil for this format.

I had this spoiled for me…
Scare Me has some of the most aggressively improv-club dialogue I’ve ever heard in my life. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. But when the two leads get into the groove, it’s pretty spectacular
So yeah, the movie starts as a silly comedy jam featuring some well delivered campfire tales. The edit was sloppy at points, but for a directorial debut, Scare Me is pretty damn good. You know what? It’ll probably make my honorable mentions for the year.

This one definitely put me in the Halloween mood! Check it out!
