I feel like this premise, with a competent team, could have been a great movie.
But as it stands right now, even aside from the issues with Mexican representation (which definitely make it worse), it's still pretty bad. It tries to be cheesy but never fully commits; it wants to be melodramatic but doesn't do enough to get there either. The characters are poorly and uninterestingly written, the songs are bad and terribly performed (sorry, but Karla and Selene hurt my ears). Its ideas just don’t blend well together. This movie wants to be so many things but fails at all of them.
