The Royal Tenenbaums 2001
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I especially love this Wes Anderson film because it retains his trademark style while still feeling distinct enough to stand out. For example, the use of handheld shots, something rare in his films. The fact that it’s rated R (hell yeah), and the unexpected suicide scene which caught me off guard. Moments like that, along with the more grounded elements throughout, bring a surprising depth to the movie. Also how can I forget using needle in the hay by Elliot Smith in that suicide scene…that’s CINEMA.
