  christina hendricks was luke-warm
  story wasn’t gripping like the book
  i filled in the missing emotions bc i’d just read the book, otherwise the film lacked in this area. for someone who hadn’t read it, the story was glossing over the details of what made the family interesting. 
  the ending was the most intense part, but felt more open-ended than the book, which was explicit in its resolution. 
  tension was not building as much as the director wanted.
