  ok yeah, i watched this to see jennifer connelly on the mechanical kiddie horse. but also because i love a teen romp! this felt very 80s in some ways, but probably would have been raunchier if it was made 5 years earlier. i liked it! did you know dermot mulroney has a brother named kieran?

  There are a lot of things about this series that annoyed me. Wind Gap does not feel like a real place, and these do not feel like real people. This "southern gothic" tale everyone's so enamored with is about an imaginary, monolithic South where women wear high heels with their nightgowns, black people are all but invisible, and the migrant workers' bar plays "60s female folk" music.   I liked how it built up to being abstract and poetic, instead of expecting me to be tolerant of it right of the bat. Overall really beautiful and not too heavy-handed on any of the multiple themes/allegories. Jennifer Jason-Leigh is the perfect gives-no-fucks HBIC for this adventure. In fact, all of these bitches were tops.
