I have never been more distracted by the costuming of a movie.

I have never been more distracted by the costuming of a movie.
Crazy tough to watch Zendaya’s character carry the fragile ego of not one or two tennis players but THREE on her goddamn back (her ego might have been the heaviest?). Imagine losing out on your dreams to a career ending injury and then having to RAISE your boyfriend and your boyfriend’s boyfriend!!!
The indie film and art film market has been historically male-dominated and focusing on sharing male stories. I could go into so many of my thoughts on this but the point of sharing it is to reinforce how many incredible Female driven art films/indie films that have been released this year. The last showgirl being the most gut punching, wind knocking, devastatingly glamorous film of them all. With so much eye candy and beauty to soak in - the subtle…
The cuntiest thing you can do in the name of feminism is have a man beat another man with a heel. And the most feminist thing you can do is show me Dev Patel shirtless. 100/10 use of music. Oceans 11 meets Batman Begins Meets Fight Club. (Pacing was slightly off but, that could be the Kimmy C from McGuffins)
The first half of this film knocked me on my ass - breathtakingly cinematic moments of film that captured the magic of arriving to New York, the beauty and quiet of Mid Century Architecture, and the promise of an uncertain future. Like Lazlos first project erected outside Philadelphia I felt the second act needed a bit of “ceiling height” and “sky lights” amidst the concrete narrative and harsh reality Lazlo faced. The cinematic tools and shot choices used to inspire…
It’s giving leave Amy alone. And kinda a low key freaky deeky parallel between the demonization of the paparazzi and the clear cash grab to retell a bunk version of Amy’s life? Me thinks there was a little too much unjustified redemption for Blake. Also me: Simon Fuller? Like the guy from American Idol?
If anyone says “I’m sorry” to me again I’m going to have a panic attack
Turns out you have to see the other ones to care
Soundtrack and Fight Choreography were gorgeous
When I was in 5th grade my best friend and I convinced each other we were Babylonian priestesses in a past life. We’d spend hours on the phone recalling these false memories which at the time felt more and more real the more we exchanged them. Lolololol This movie feels dreamt up by that same sense of nostalgia and endless possibility. The confusing web of identity as you’re both creating, discovering, and comparing who you are in adolescence ( and…
Hollywood is allergic to making fun movies, THIS IS A FUN MOVIE. ZOOLANDER MEETS CHARLIES ANGELS. Sydney Sweeney did her best to bring back Rom Coms but The Fall Guy (Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt) *ACTUALLY* did it. Gonna be a rewatch for years to come.
