Munich 2005
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Really hard one to judge. I like that the movie takes a turn to critique Israel, but considering the genocide that Palestinians are facing, I’m not sure that it turned enough to feel completely right. By filmmaking standards, Munich is a triumph, and it’s maybe even one of Spielberg’s best. However, I’d be very careful to equate the suffering and violence of two groups when one is actively committing genocide on the other. I don’t have the guts to really judge the messaging of this one definitively, but I can say that the filmmaking alone in Munich is absolutely top-tier.
