About half a year after I’ve seen The Seed of the Sacred Fig… I am grateful that both these films exist but also extremely depressed that they do. But also massively impressed by the film making of both.
Where are we in history?
In the introduction of the nonverbal play REWIND it was accurately pointed out that, unfortunately this is not the first time and will not be the last time things like this happen.
Besides the similarities in theme…
I don’t have any words for this. Words are too bare for this masterpiece. All of Pina‘s works leave me speechless but a heart full of emotion. Oh oh right, one thing I can say is that compared to the rite of spring or café müller, this piece incorporates a lot more humour and silly fun things.
P.S. didn’t realise that it was also Wim Wenders who directed and produced this recording :o the directorial work and camera work definitely amazing. Especially knowing how different and challenging theatre stage direction and filming are compared to movie making…

Yes, you (very specific MIFF audience member I’ve eavesdropped on) could criticise Lou for choosing not documenting and showing enough things building up to and post 2022 Urumqi fire, but who are we to judge which part of the history is more important? Especially after you said, “I don’t understand why some people cried during the screening. At least I didn’t feel so touched. Well, perhaps because I’m not from Wuhan.” Well then I can’t take you seriously because you sound exactly like a hypocrite than a critical thinker.
Wasn’t going to put in a rate because it simply doesn’t feel right to “rate” this documentary. But then saw some negative ratings and the current overall is 3.9, which irritates me so it’s only fair for me to try and balance it out.
