A Quiet Place 2018
I survived watching a scary movie!! I can confirm though that it’s just not fun/entertaining to me…, so I’ll be staying away. The movie had more sound than I thought(aka a soundtrack). Also, being pregnant during an apocalypse sounds like an absolute nightmare. Objectively, a good movie, but just not my cup of tea unfortunately.

Actually so insane rewatching this, and I now truly understand that this was a product of its time. Like, a film romanticizing the antebellum south, which makes its catered audience those who benefit from Jim Crow Laws. Like right…. I will say though… production elements(costume, cinematography, and set design) absolutely GORGEOUS. This film plays around a lot with shadows and the sunlight, which I found to be really interesting. Also, love to see Olivia de Havilland in her type cast…

GAGGED me! I didn’t know your game Olivia de Havilland. Every girl gets involved with some guy on the cusp of her becoming a woman that alters her brain chemistry, tale as old time, and this movie proves my point. I literally thought this was going to be another period piece, but it absolutely surprised me. I will be giving this a rewatch in the future.

I see you Hitchcock… LOVED that this felt like I was watching a play. Finding out that this movie was based on a true story SENT me!! Like, wdym teenage boys kidnapped a 14 year-old and thought they could get away with it?!? Also, even though it wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the movie, the romantic chemistry between Brandon and Phillip was FELT. This movie has definitely peaked my interest in Hitchcock, so I’ll def be watching more.
