Seven Samurai 1954
To think that Takashi Shimura is the same guy who played the fisherman in Rashomon is astonishing. He radiates wisdom and soul and is the heart of the picture. Clear to see the inspiration for Obi Wan, as well as most everything in Star Wars, not to mention every western shot after 1954. It’s hard to fathom how much one film can change the game forever.
