This was terribly disappointing. The trailer made it seem as a mythological horror in which Bram Stoker’s book could see itself mirroed on film. Unfortunately, while keeping the same narrative, the movie really flopped on many levels. Despite its resemblance to Fish Tank (2009), Bird did not fail to carve its own niche in Arnold’s English realism. This spiritual sequel manages to represent the more contemporary struggles that Bailey, a 12 years old girl, has to face in the midst of poverty and abuse.
