Tonally flat. Nolan uses and abuses the wonder of space and the vastness of the universe to tell an incredible small story. Maudlin to the nth degree, it plays its cards too early on, preaching about love blah blah blah.

A gorgeously shot, Coen Brothers-like take on South Korean power politics, where the inability to take a shit can change a country forever. Loses some momentum in the latter half, but the lush cinematography, graphic violence, and understated comedy make this a must-see.

Sticks to the theme well enough, but it's too scattershot, jumping from point to point, and it only mentions the C-word once during a four hour runtime. Not a huge fan of most of the reenactments either. This documentary would have been brave to make 30 years ago, but the notion that something like this is "impossible" in light of the 1619 project is just silly.
