This film was great, surface level. it was funny without trying to be a comedy, gasp worthy without trying to be a drama. they captured that fly on the wall feel. however, for a movie that was so long, there wasn’t much character out of Anora. or anyone, actually. they were kinda just there. only Igor was the one who had some complexities.

The Menu 2022
this movie is a masterpiece in itself, but not in a Chef Slowick way. the mind fuckery and constant fear of whatever’s coming next was executed very well, and each new scene was just as intriguing as the last. the complex collection of characters, the “rules” of the restaurant, the dedication of the staff, it all gave the energy of a real fine dining restaurant even as a viewer. it wouldn’t hurt to have more violence, or to explore more of the characters, but the themes were still carried out despite.
