  For me, the movie’s biggest problem is that it seems to forget that it’s supposed to be a Joker movie. It’s not even about being a good sequel—or a sequel at all. The film gets so lost in itself that during its entire runtime, I wasn’t sure where anything was going (ultimately, nowhere). It feels so uninterested (and uninteresting) in having its own identity, which I find surprising, especially given the bold choice to make it a musical.
