Tom Hanks' no.2 favourite film, and rightfully so! "Best film about the war and the generation who fought it. And you can watch that today and outside the fashions and a bit of the colloquial language, it’s all about who we are right now." ❤️ Additionally, William Wyler, born to a Jewish family in Germany, left his successful Hollywood directing career to volunteer as a major in World War II. He lost most of his hearing while filming aboard a B-25 bomber. This film marked his return from the war, despite having lost 80% of his hearing. Extraordinary film by an extraordinary director.
