This is anti-MAGA, anti-capitalism, anti-rich, etc… Bong doesn’t hide his politics. If that’s not your vibe, best to avoid this movie.

The best quality of Bong is his ability to shift tone as effortlessly as he can cut between montages without you even recognizing it.

I appreciate Bong for not forcing a wannabe Parasite as his follow up to Parasite. Instead, he went back to his wonky and childish natured films.

A 3.75 for me. I think this movie will age better over time.

Incredibly relevant, took a lot of risks, and punches way above it’s weight.

Nag Ashwin excels in world building, but he can’t direct an action scene to save his life. I don’t understand why so many young Indian directors are pursuing their dream projects without building the necessary skills with each movie as a building block.

There’s little to appreciate in Kalki, but those few moments (mostly the Mahabharata sequences) were enough to keep me hooked. The rest of the movie felt like amateur hour. There is a clear lack of conviction when you have to break narrative for stupid comedy scenes, unnecessary love tracks, and forced exposition.
