i loved the beginning of the movie. the aesthetic is really gorgeous and the actors do their best with material. my main problems are:
1) this movie is a giant trauma dump in the vein of love, rosie

as exciting and heart-warming as i find elphabaβs journey, i will just always be a glinda π«§π i think there is something to say about glindaβs choice to let her magic be the public and βpopularβity. her power is in her feminity and her attractiveness (not just physical). pink, on her, is not just seen as girl-ish, but as a bold statement to stand out from the crowd while still being percieved as someone who can fit in. she knows that being seen as good in the public eye is where real power lies, but with that power also comes isolation and perfectionism. β‘
