The Shining 1980
Wowowow. I had never seen this before, and it completely lived up to the hype. It was just the right amount of horror and story, and it kept me on my toes the whole film. I did not see the ending coming at all…full chills. Also so glad to see horror movie victims who are actually resourceful and use their common sense

Love & Basketball 2000
Finally the happy-ending rom-com I've been wanting all semester. The characters definitely had a lot of maturing to do from the beginning to the end, but overall I really enjoyed the film. I loved how it was broken up into quarters– a really creative way to represent both basketball and the passage of time.

The Apartment 1960
I just....didn't like it. The characters are all kind of terrible people, and the plot isn't that interesting...except for the tennis racket pasta strainer.
The only somewhat tolerable part was the end... and even then, Fran probably only chose Bud because it was convenient.

Before Sunrise 1995
I choose to believe that they met back up in six months and got married and lived in a little cottage in the French countryside together and baked bread and frolicked in the fields and went into the city and had philosophical debates over dinner every night and FINALLY saw the dang cow guy's play. Beautiful movie, horrible ending. Stared at the screen in shock as the credits rolled so abruptly.
