You Hurt My Feelings 2023
I feel this movie is much sweeter than NH's other movies. It's a little slice of life where a writer finds out her husband (who is so loving to her! They love each other so much!) doesn't actually like her writing. The whole thing is a rumination on the little lies we tell to protect one another and what we lose/gain from telling the unvarnished truth. I am only giving this 2.5 stars because Jessie Buckley is one of my favorite actors and she is an Irish TREASURE! As for the rest of the movie- the director really thought he was doing some feminist shit but clearly never talked to a woman in his life. God damn. I really wanted to like it, too, but I should have known better since this is the Ex Machina guy.
