One of my favorite Brackett and Wilder screenplays! Claudette arrives in Paris completely penniless but wheedles her way into high society, throwing wit and charm in every direction, and cutting a swath through the pool of eligible young bachelors.
I’d never heard the phrase, “Every Cinderella has her midnight;” the card saying “Hosannas to the high gods for throwing us together” - in contrast to, “So glad we met” - with the bouquet of flowers was hilarious; and one of the final scenes was positively sidesplitting.
