  this is so legendary that i rewatch every few years in hopes of “getting” it bc i love cary grant and katherine hepburn sm. but no. even ignoring it ends with kate going back to the alcoholic ex that hits her and every single man except j*mmy st*wart projecting their issues onto her (ex. dad blaming her for his cheating) with this movie’s endorsement, it still sucks. just not as funny or clever as the high reputation would suggest. i mean the part that makes me laugh the hardest is cary grant deadpanning HELLO FRIENDS AND ENEMIES

  sorry to be that person, but the book was better. it was tied for my fav read of 2021 and this just doesn’t compare

  i’m really surprised at all the critics saying this isn’t getting the proper appreciation from audiences because it’s too cerebral and intellectual, bc my dumb bitch self was thinking the whole time that it was hollywood-ified, making up tons of cheap TV drama for its own sake. or just general things - like clark’s dramatically framed…
