"This is my brother and I need a shovel to love him."
i know that they are cousins but about halfway through this film i was reminded of this quote from a poem by natalie diaz and it felt so perfectly apt for the two of them

this film is the reason i thought the moon was made out of cheese for an embarrassingly long time as a child
just like the queer experience, this movie is a delicate balance between hope & joy and the devastating, terrible reality of what the world looks like for trans people right now.
such a touching film, i was moved to tears so many times. everyone should watch this, not just for the sake of understanding trans people but for the beautiful way the film depicts the friendship between will and harper. what a lovely celebration of being your true self!
also, kristen wiig nailed that song.
just like with kermit the frog's other work the sincere parts of this comedy ended up being the best bits
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
i feel like this is one of those movies that you appreciate more on the second (and third. and fourth.) watch when you know what’s coming. kind of like how every time there’s a little women remake i start crying as soon as (spoiler alert!) beth shows up even though nothing’s happened yet. like that
(this is me saying that if i ever watch this movie again i’m going to be bawling from beginning to end)
this movie not getting any oscar nominations is a hate crime
