Shawshank Redemption meets Stand By Me but with far less appeal. You know that feeling when a movie is clearly adapted from a book, too much plot to cover yet not enough depth to truly connect with the characters? That’s exactly what this felt like, despite its lengthy runtime. Billy Crudup needed more screen time. Also, the only main female character with speaking lines served little to no purpose, sorry Minnie Driver, bummer.
