    I just cannot get completely behind this film.

    I feel as though I was initially duped into liking it once I left the cinema, what with the playful 1970s soundtrack, the beautiful orange and saturated tones, the witty dialogue and evident chemistry between Gary and Alana. 

    The most obvious thing that displeased me was the fact that this was a romantic relationship between a 15 and 25-year-old, I just couldn’t continue to look past the quirky moments like Alana showing…

    The visuals in this are literally genius.
    The frantic scene in Spain with the Bull drew so many parallels with the tomato throwing festival in We Need to Talk About Kevin. 
    Lynne Ramsey is a master of chaotic stillness, this film is so turbulent yet minimalist. 
    This energy is invoked through a number of lingering takes that have such a disquieting calmness, not forgetting Ramsey’s characteristic lack of dialogue which majorly adds to this.

    I will watch any film of Panahi’s. Mostly on account of the fact that the guy buried a USB stick inside of a birthday cake in order to smuggle ‘This is Not a Film’ to Cannes.
    I could go on but the commitment this guy has to filmmaking is so admirable, regardless of all the shit he’s been put through it speaks volumes throughout all of his work.
