The Brutalist 2024
Messy messy messy movie in content, in craft, in reception. Beautiful experience though, with incredible images and characters. Deserved best cinematography eight thousand times over.
My heart aches at the impending volume of AI in the creation of art, but maybe it is possible to utilize it in a way that supplements something we love. I’ll never incorporate that technology into the things I make and I can’t understand this filmmaker’s and this film’s team’s decision to do so (just literally find an architect to make those sketches maybe?). Bittersweet.
PS - one of the best scores I’ve ever heard wow what an experience

A Real Pain 2024
I’ve been severely missing Kieran Culkin since finishing Succession for the first time two weeks ago. It’s a dark place, a world without him. Although, you know, I know my pain is unexceptional so why bother everyone with it. It was good to see him again.
