This was the last Robert Eggers movie I needed to see before Nosferatu (2024), and I am further convinced Eggers is untouchable. Each of his films, starting with the VVitch (2017), is just as complicated, organic, and masterful as the last. I HIGHLY recommend listening to Eggers and Alexander Skarsgard talk about the filming, writing, and producing process behind the scenes. It is important to note that Skarsgard produced, as well. Simply put, you will never be able to understand it all by just watching. Everything Eggers shows and tells is deliberate and carries weight.
