Not the film to watch if you have medical anxiety, but I persisted for my anxious soul. (There is no answer. I am just more sad and confused. But there’s no denying the film is beautiful and absurd.)
I think this movie will make me cry sometime in the future. Maybe sometime soon. Or maybe far away. While watching I felt uneasy. I think the tears will come when bits of reality reflect what I saw tonight. I think the tears will finally break through just like the glow in Owen’s chest, in my most mortifying moment, in an otherwise mundane day.
I don’t think there’s any version of an ending that would’ve felt right for me, after the journey this film took me on. That said… I enjoyed the journey. I liked what the film had to say about the way women are sometimes written, especially by men who have good intentions and are honestly just lonely and lack perspective.
It’s films like these that make the life of a writer seem absolutely dreadful, though, ngl. this man adopted a dog so that he might actually make some friends, and spends most of his time in a boring white office staring at a blank white page.
