  Father of the Kamikaze 1974

  Incredible semi-anti-war film & biopic (Takijirō Ōnishi) about the Kamikaze: Japanese pilots who were pushed to acts of self-sacrifice in a last-ditch (albeit from the beginning hopeless) effort to resist the numerically and technologically superior American military.

  Older WWII films from Japanese perspective are HTF, especially with English subtitles, so I recommend getting the AnimEigo DVD if you can.
