Pierrot le Fou 1965
Stylistically, this movie is beautiful. However, I feel it’s pretentious and lacked substance. Nonsense ≠ depth. I feel that people rate movies like this highly because they either don’t see past stunning visuals, think themselves so highly that any film that confuses them they assume must be great and symbolic, or it fulfills a particular niche of theirs. To me, I feel it’s equivalent to those who look at a completely blank canvas of “modern art” in a museum and pretentiously explain how it means something so deeply to them.
