This was really disappointing and boring. It don’t work at all. Had lots of…potential? Decent ingredients? But the final dish tasted bad and made no sense whatsoever.

The Substance 2024
Thought i would enjoy it but didn’t expect to be enamored. Felt like a love child of David Cronenberg and Nicholas Winding Refn. Was not bored for any of the two hours and twenty min. Pacing was good/editing sharp. Twisted humor/funnier than I expected. Sound design/mixing/synth scoring did a lot of heavy lifting. Shots were composed. Sets were memorable, specifically her apartment and the contrast to the bathroom where much happens. Both actresses were excellent. Prosthetics and makeup were next level.
