  First of all, amazing animation! Definitely gets extra points for that. I feel like the story, though, was kinda all over the place and lacked cohesion. While I love the soft world-building of Ghibli, this just seemed like the plot wasn’t totally fleshed out, eg introducing totally new things near the end of the film with no real explanation or tie-in, etc. I think it started really strong and then sort of fell apart by the end, and seemed sort of rushed.

  Hard to follow along—- loved the acting and cinematography. Don’t be prepared to understand or see a cohesive narrative. Felt like it was truly out of a dream. Like a Japanese take on Lynchianism.
